Just who is Tim Jones?
Tim Jones is the father of three boys and an entrepreneur. While he is a businessman today, Tim is also an accomplished engineer and a ship's Captain licensed by the US Coast Guard. He has served in the US Navy and is a veteran of the Gulf War.
Is that all he is? No.
Tim Jones has been a vital member of the American Samoan community for 14 years. He built and managed a successful business that has been an integral part of the local community. As a businessman, he has learned firsthand what works and what doesn't in our economy. Now he will apply all that experience for you. Just cast your vote for him. He will do the rest for you.
Tim is a "Can Do" person. He analyzes problems, searches for solutions and then goes after the fix until its done. You have never seen anything like Tim's relentless efforts to resolve problems. Failure isn't in his blood.
Our economy will need some positive guidance in the upcoming years following the destruction of the September 2009 Tsunami. While serving in the Navy, Tim learned what it takes to be a leader. He has carried those leadership qualities through many civic roles he has played through the years. He has volunteered his time in local charities and sports organizations including acting as the Lion's Club Treasurer, working with the local Junior Olympic Teams, and even coaching kids baseball teams.

What isn't he?
Well, most obviously, he is not Samoan. This is important because he can truly be an impartial leader of our territory. He completely understands that ASG leadership is different from cultural leadership and that the two should be kept separate. There are no Matai obligations to cause him bias. This means he can truly look at each person as an equal. Can any of the other candidates truly say that? The value of this quality, to be clear of any Aiga or Matai pressures, cannot be understated for a leader of our community.
So, now do you think you know Tim Jones?
A lot of people think they do, but do they really? If you actually meet Tim and have a conversation with him, you may be surprised. You might think you already know all about Tim, but you might think differently if you talk with him personally. Tim has pledged to give everyone on this island a chance to meet him personally. He wants to spend time to visit with the members of each village on a one on one basis. He wants to know what is on YOUR mind! What concerns you? What do you need YOUR government to do for you and your family? Tim solidly believes that the Governor should work for everyone equally. That the United States constitution says all men are created equal. Tim believes everyone should be treated equal by the Governor, regardless of age, race, or financial status. In Tim's words, "We are all equal in God's eyes. The Governor needs to follow that example and not help only his friends but everyone the same."
Many people think they know Tim Jones. There are a lot of people that would have you think he's something he is not. Gossip and rumors have never been a good way to know someone. Tim challenges you to actually have a conversation with him. Shake his hand and learn what he's all about for yourself. Make your judgment about this man from your own personal experience with him and not from what you hear from someone else. The truth may surprise you.
We are all tired of electing leaders who only talk to us during election season and then ignore us after being elected. Don't you hate that? We are their best friends when they are campaigning and they don't know us when they are in office. Isn't it time to elect someone who will remember us after we elect them and who will do things without being selfish? Someone who understands what commitment to the job and to the people really means? Someone who doesn't forget his promises after he is elected? Someone who can manage and lead without fear of making mistakes?
If these qualities are important to you, then elect Tim Jones as Governor. Put this incredible man to work for you!
